Calabar Conservation and Development Initiative(CCDI) is an offshoot of the grave concerns for the endangered natural endowments of Cross River State and Nigeria at large.
CCDI is a nongovernmental vehicle that aims to create and sustain ownership of local people of their flora and fauna and to see it as a heritage which they must protect and sustain for future generations.
CCDI encourages youths to form cooperatives in order to access relevant support towards small and medium scale enterprises.
Savings and internal lending communities(SILC) methods are promoted by CCDI in line with the low external input(LEI) strategy.
CCDI will assist in rural livelihoods diversification of communities in the rain forest regions, helping towards assessing capabilities, assets and promoting relevant activities based on a low external input strategy
CCDI works with community leaders especially in rainforest areas to promote decent housing. This entails promotion of local housing designs to achieve ventilation and good hygiene.
